Top Strongman and women will battle for the title of the Legion Sports Fest’s STRONGEST.The ground-shaking Legion Amateur Strongman competition has now expanded into a Pro Strongman competition with top pros competing for a $1,000 cash purse plus a qualification for the USS Pro International!
Competitors will push themselves to the limits competing in your favorite events such as the Truck Axle Press, Duck Walk/Power Stairs, Super Yoke, Deadlift, Keg Load-Off, and Sandbag Toss for Distance. Hosted by American Iron Gym and the American Iron Sports Foundation.

Strongman Events
Truck Axle Press
Axle press with truck tires on the bar.
Athletes will have 60 seconds to press as many reps overhead as possible.
Every rep must be cleaned from the ground.
Equipment allowed: Belts, sleeves, wrist wraps, grip shirt.
Equipment NOT allowed: Tacky, deadlift straps, buildup belts. (1 hard and 1 soft belt only)
Duck Walk/Power Stairs
There will be 2 duck walk implements. They will be carried 20 feet then loaded onto 4 power stairs.
60 second time limit. Athletes will be scored on how quickly they complete the course. If they do not complete the course, they will be scored on how far they got.
Equipment allowed: belts, sleeves.
Equipment NOT allowed: Deadlift straps, tacky.
Deadlift
Athletes will have 60 seconds to deadlift as many reps to lockout as possible.
NO TOUCH AND GO! Every rep will have an up and a down command.
Conventional stance only.
Equipment allowed: Belts, sleeves, deadlift straps.
Equipment NOT allowed: Tacky, deadlift suits/briefs.
Super Yoke
Athletes will carry a yoke 35 feet as quickly as possible.
60 second time limit. Fastest time wins. If an athlete does not complete the full course, they will be scored on the distance they completed.
Equipment allowed: Belts, sleeves, grip shirt.
Equipment NOT allowed: Tacky.
Sandbag Toss for Distance
Athletes will throw a sandbag over their head as far horizontally as possible.
Athletes can only throw over their head like a traditional sandbag toss, “hammer throwing” is not allowed.
Athletes will have 3 attempts, their best attempt will be their score.
30 seconds allowed per attempt.
Equipment allowed: Belts, sleeves.
Equipment NOT allowed: Tacky.
Keg Load-Off
2 athletes will stand on opposite sides of a bar and load a keg back and forth to each other.
No time limit. The athletes will load until one fails. When one fails, the athlete still in will continue to load for as many reps as possible. A spotter will jump in to pass the keg back.
If you fail a rep you are out! No second chances!
Equipment allowed: Belts, sleeves, grip shirt, bicep protection.
Equipment NOT allowed: Tacky.
Strongman Event Rules and Parameters:
Weigh-Ins
Weigh-ins will be on Friday 10/7 at American Iron Gym. (650 S Rock Blvd, Reno, NV, 89502)
Weigh-ins start at 10:00 AM.
Rules Meeting
This is a 1-day contest.
The rules meeting will start at 9:30 AM, the lifting starts at 10:00 AM.
Pro Class
- Minimum of 6 competitors needed.
- Winners will qualify for the USS Pro International.
- Cash prizes for the Pro Classes are currently $500 for 1st, $300 for 2nd, and $200 for 3rd. Subject to increase with sponsors.
National Qualifier
- In Novice classes, 1st place will earn an invite to US Strongman Nationals.
- In all open classes, 1st through 3rd place will all earn invites to US Strongman Nationals
