Antibody Testing for COVID-19

CARR Cellular Fitness & Performance now have antibody testing for protective, IgG antibodies, available to anyone that would like to know if they were infected in the past with COVID-19.

A positive result indicates an immune response to a prior infection with SARS-CoV-2, with antibodies the body makes to confer longer lasting immunity. Knowing your  IgG antibody status may help individuals in deciding about when to return to work or other activities, after the stay at home orders are lifted.

Please note this blood test is NOT intended to diagnose ACTIVE Covid-19 infection. If you suspect that  you may be currently sick, do not do this test-not only will the lab not collect your specimen, but even if they did, it cannot diagnose an acute infection.

Things to Know:

• Blood test must be ordered by a physician, and the cost is $55 paid directly to Quest

• Local Patient Service Centers will be conducting tests only after 1 pm on ASYMPTOMATIC individuals wearing a mask.

•Appointments can be made on the Quest website, and turnaround time for results is typically only 2 days

Dr. Carr and his team are anticipate very high demand for this blood test, and ask for your patience as they assist you with this. If you are interested, please send an email to assistant@johncarrmd.com rather than call. You will receive an order via email only. Orders cannot be sent electronically for this test, and must be printed from your email and a hard copy must be hand carried to the lab. Again, we expect hundreds to be interested in doing this test, so please do not call unless it is absolutely necessary.

 Dr. Carr will not be able to call you personally with the results-they will be self explanatory, either positive (meaning you have antibodies and thus have been infected or significantly exposed) or negative. They will be having a ZOOM conference specifically about the antibody testing and results interpretation this Wednesday, April 29th.
